Complete your profile: Get 20% OffWe boiled this down to a simple formula of what to eat Before, During, and After each workout. Over the past 8 years we have refined this further with feedback from over 200,000+ athletes being fed by The Feed.
Pre-workout: Hydro Tab in 500ml of water, sip before you start
During: One Drink Gel (30g) around the 20–30 minute mark
Post: Hydro Tab or water to rehydrate
Total carbs: ~30g. Clean and simple. No need to overthink it for shorter sessions.
Pre-workout: Fast Bar 30–45 minutes before you roll out
Hour 1: One bottle of Energy Drink (30g) sipped throughout + one Drink Gel (30g) = 60g
Hour 2: Same combo, or swap the Energy Drink for a Turbo Drink at 40g and pair with one Turbo Gel (40g) = 80g if you're pushing hard
Total carbs: 120–140g across the session. This is the sweet spot for most amateur athletes on a medium-long training day.
Night before: Standard carb-loading meal, no need to overdo it
Race morning (2 hours out): Fast Bar + small meal
30 minutes before swim start: One Turbo Gel (40g) for a quick top-up
Turbo Drink mixed at 80g per 500ml bottle — one bottle per hour
One Turbo Gel every 45–60 minutes = 40g
Turbo Gels only — one every 30–40 minutes
Caffeinated Cassis version at the halfway point and again at mile 10
Cherry Juice immediately after the finish line
Recovery shake within 30 minutes
But one size doesn’t fit all. Which is why we are here to build you a personal Feed that will work for you and your sport, your diet, your flavor preferences, and your training goals.
Every product in the Energy Line = 30g of carbs. Every product in the Turbo Line = 40g of carbs.
Need 60g/hour? Two Energy Line products.
Need 90g/hour? Three Energy Line products — or two Turbo Line products + one Energy product.
The color coding (blue = Energy, black = Turbo) tells you everything you need to know at a glance. No label-reading during a race. No math on the run. Just grab the right color and go.
Nomio is a concentrated organic broccoli sprout shot, backed by 8 years of Swedish research, that helps reduce lactic acid buildup so you can hold your effort longer.
Nomio is the top trending performance product this year. Mads Pedersen has been using it for over a year and loves it. Coincidence he's now in the green jersey? I think not.

Just a decade ago, 60 grams of carbs an hour was considered the upper end of fueling. Now it's not even the minimum in the WorldTour peloton.
120g of carbs an hour. Zero mercy. No bonks.
A decade ago, sports nutrition advice said athletes should aim for 60–90g of carbs per hour. Today's WorldTour peloton has blown straight past that.
Vollering took her second Tour De France Femmes title this year, covering 1,174.5 km from Lausanne to Nice. Across those nine stages, her team clocked her fueling at an average of 110g of carbohydrate per hour on the bike.
9,050g
of total carbohydrate over the nine days, including meals off the bike
3,450g
of carbohydrate fueled during racing across all nine stages
110g/hour
average carb intake during race stages
Drink Mix 160 — 47 bottles
Drink Mix 320 — 9 bottles
Gel 100 — 20 sachets
Gel 160 — 10 sachets
Gel 100 Caf 100 — 6 sachets
Elsa Hugot, team nutritionist for FDJ-Suez, put it simply: staying out of an energy deficit on any single stage is the difference between recovering in time for the next one and digging a hole you can't climb out of over nine days of racing.
If you want to fuel like Tadej Pogačar, think precision and relentless carb delivery.
Translation: massive energy, minimal stomach rebellion.
EnervitFuel exactly like Jonas Vingegaard. This team relies on the highly optimized line from Amacx.
Measure everything. Fuel constantly.
AmacxMaurten encapsulates carbohydrates in a pH-sensitive gel that helps shuttle carbs through the stomach with less GI distress.
More fuel. Less sloshing.
MaurtenThese two teams leverage the dialed fueling system from Precision Fuel and Hydration.
Plus, they use OOfos recovery slides anytime they aren't pedaling. That counts for something!
Precision Fuel & HydrationHere's the short list of products top riders are using at the Tour to make it through three weeks of the hardest racing on earth.

Nomio condenses 6.5 pounds of broccoli sprouts into a single 60ml shot.
Take it 2–3 hours before your key effort — it's a cellular switch-flipper, not a quick fuel source.
500mg
The Amacx Beet Shot delivers 500mg of nitrates per shot.
Take one every morning to let the benefits compound.

Our top-selling performance booster, and the secret ingredient is black garlic.
Two capsules every morning. One rule that makes or breaks it: no mouthwash.
Bicarb
That's where Bicarb saves you.
You're taking this for performance, not taste.
Run this stack. You'll understand why the Tour peloton is obsessed.

There are always great deals, and I am thankful of the "sample" packs available. I generally know what works with my body, but sometimes the flavors/textures of newer / different yet similar products are not to my liking and appreciate the availability of trying before committing to a large bag / quantity that I can't choke down.

Training Tips
Fatigue resistance is your ability to hold your effort — pace, power, output — late in a race instead of it feeling compromised or reduced.
By Matt Johnson · Aug 31, 2026 · 4 min read
1903
The first TDF rolls out of Paris with 60 riders, zero sports nutrition science, and a general attitude of grit as a fuel source.
1920s
After the war, the Tour resumed — and riders started carrying musettes from the start.
A cycling icon was born.
1935
Moineau kept going. He crossed the finish line 15 minutes ahead of a heavily refreshed field.
Genius? Sabotage? Either way, that was the day the feed zone started its transformation — shifting from a casual roadside picnic into the high-speed, grab-and-go operation it is today.
1950s
Roadside café stops and folding tables give way to organized team feed zones.
The chaotic becomes choreographed.
2022
The feed zone has always had a thin margin between precision and chaos.
When you have dozens of riders trying to grab their nutrition, things can get a bit dicey.
Now
A few years ago, 60 grams of carbs per hour was considered the ceiling.
Today, the best athletes are pushing 120+ grams an hour, every day, and doing things at the end of races that simply weren't possible before.
Before founding The Feed, Matt Johnson spent a decade as President of Slipstream Sports, running the WorldTour pro cycling team that raced the Tour as Garmin.
We built The Feed to share how the right nutrition at the right time can instantly improve your performance, get you more improvement out of each workout, and increase your enjoyment of training and racing.
The result is The Feed Musette: classic racing look, heavier fabric, padded strap, full-length zipper.
You can get it for free with any $75+ order today.
A throwaway race classic, promoted to everyday keeper.
We are athletes like you. We have experienced how eating smarter can make a meaningful difference in our training. Improving your nutrition is one of the quickest ways to see meaningful improvements in performance.
